Keeping this semi-official blog in English for the Kurokawa Onsen Ryokan Association now gives me the perfect excuse...I just HAVE to try all the (public outdoor) baths I possibly can!

  1. Just spent the weekend at Kurokawa, and was surprised how empty it was! I heard from my ryokan lots of people cancelled reservations after the earthquake… But it seemed to me the whole town was up and running fine. All the shops/restaurants looked open, and my stay was perfect – it was very easy to get to/from Kurokawa by bus. I’m SO glad I went and didn’t cancel!

  2. Hi, We have booked to stay here October 30 and 31st (2 nights), please advise if everything is fine now after the earthquake and that the onsens and all other facilities are up and running and can be used?

    Thank you

    • Hello, Things are pretty much normal now in Kurokawa Onsen. Most of the Inns and baths are open,as are the shops and restaurants. Sanai Kogen Hotel,Kurokawa-so Ryokan and Nanjoen Ryokan are having some repair work done, but that shouldn’t affect your stay at all ( and may well be completed by October anyway). October will be a great time to visit!
